Ingredients
1 1/4 cups - maida
1/8 teaspoon - salt
1/8 teaspoon - baking soda
1/2 cup - sugar
2/3 cup - ghee
cardamon powder (pinch)
saffron (very very lil)
yellow food color (very very lil)
Method
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the flour, soda, cardamon powder and salt in a large mixing bowl
and keep aside.
Melt the ghee and add sugar and stir thoroughly till dissolved. Add food
color and saffron if interested.
When the dough is just cool enough, mix with your fingers till it resembles
mashed potatoes. Kneed into smooth balls and flatten slightly between
your palms.
Place the discs on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the
bottoms are lightly colored. Cool on a wire rack and serve or store at room
temperature for upto 1 week.
Remarks
These mildly sweet cookies can be accompanied with many sorbets, ice creams or
dipped in strong tea or coffee.
